Tirana is the largest city of Albania and has something to offer for everyone.

This tour starts at 9.30 meeting up at the Skanderbeg Square. Your experience as a local will start with the first thing you should know about Albanians – coffee is a way of living. The coffee culture is responsible for ranking Albania as the second city in the world with the highest number of coffee shops per inhabitant. As so, you’ll be able to experience it as a local, having coffee at the New Bazaar. Recently gone under renovation, the New Bazaar has a little of everything for everyone. Local street food, antique shops, fresh fruits and colorful buildings is what you’re looking for !

2

After your morning coffee you will visit the Historic Museum, have a look at the last traces of the Ottoman Empire, Et’hem Bey Mosque and the Clock Tower.
Tirana is a mashup of old and new with a pleasant chaotic vibe. Not far from the square within a 5 minute walk, you will face the Castle of Tirana now open to visitors as the newest public space.

3

Moving decades ahead, the communist past, lays inside one of the atomic bunkers, now history and contemporary art museum, BunkArt 2. It will narrate some of the activities during one of the darkest periods of the country’s history.

4

On your way to the little “Soho” of Tirana ( Bllok), you will walk towards the Pyramid’, built in 1988 as a museum for Enver Hoxha, the dictator of the period. Finishing up you will walk in the ‘Bllok’ area where you will see Enver Hoxha’s villa. Bllok is now a lively area offering a considerable number of coffee shops, restaurants and shops.

Advise : If you have free time, you might want to consider visiting Bllok in the evening, as its peak activity of bars and restaurants is around that time.
